Spiritually focused psychotherapy intimately involves our prayer life, of which meditation is central. Meditation is the process of stilling the mind. Once we let go of the incessant process of “thinking,” the mind can connect, consciously and unconsciously, with God. Meditation makes “space” in our mind for the miracle of God’s Love to manifest in our being and in our life. Our choice to worry and overthink- yes, it is a choice- tells the Divine that we want to be in control, that we “believe” in the laws of the ego and three dimensional world. Meditation is a commitment to allow the Divine laws to take control.
Most everyone struggles with allowing the mind to still and developing a meditation practice. We can work together to create a spiritual practice that makes spending quiet time with the Lord natural.
